When you choose to do nothing about a situation, you're actually choosing to do something
Let's think about it for a second.
When you choose to do nothing about a situation, you are choosing to:
If you're new here...WELCOME!!! I'm glad you found me! I've linked another blog post below that I think may interest you. Check it out and tell me what you think!
Do you realize how much energy is used when you choose to "do nothing" about a situation?
How about how doing "nothing" affects those around you?
It could very well push the people who you need the most away.
Doing nothing can cause more stress and lead to you being unwell...mentally and physically.
If your work situation is less than stellar, or you're having health issues, or financial issues, or relationship issues, or whatever issue it is that you're choosing to allow rule your life, it's your choice to sit there and perpetuate additional problems and negativity.
If life has thrown you a curve ball, or handed you lemons, or given you an obstacle, or flat out shit on you (you go ahead and choose whatever best describes what's happening), why are you choosing to do nothing about it?
It doesn't matter that you can't change the big picture in a situation; change the little picture for yourself.
Why mope and stew about what someone said, or the results of a test, or the money that isn't in your bank account, or whatever?
Why? Where is that getting you?
What are you getting out of sitting on your couch, or at your desk, or lying in bed, mulling over and harping on a situation that's already happened.
You can't change it. But you can change what you do about it.
Something's changed and you don't agree with it.
Do you have enough "clout" in the company to have an entire process overturned? If you do, then great - go ahead and write your proposal, get your facts and get shit changed.
If you don't, which is more than likely the scenario, what can you do to change your part of it?
Whatever it is, any action is better than no action.
The doctor called with test results
Certain numbers are up, others are down?
Medications or surgeries are being recommended?
Rather than sitting there and feeling sorry for yourself for more than five minutes, there's this wonderful thing called the internet.
Do some research on what this all means and how you can fix it.
If surgery or medications are a must, then by all means do that. But while you're recovering, why go back to the habits that likely got you here in the first place?
Take action; even if it's looking up articles, listening to audios, reading books.
Take action to make things better.
There are numerous studies that show that negativity and stress makes whatever health conditions we have even worse. So why feed whatever it is?
Someone said something that rubbed you the wrong way? Do something, and I don't mean "react" or "retaliate".
Everything isn't always everyone else's fault; do a little introspection.
See how you may have exacerbated the situation, probably without even realizing it.
Go to therapy, talk to a professional...on your own first...it will give you the tools to help you solve whatever problem you're having.
Why complain that you don't have enough money when you're not doing anything to get out of the situation you're in?
Whatever you do, any action you take will have a far greater benefit to you than sitting and doing nothing and just letting a situation bother you.
Now, I'm not saying you can never complain. Everyone complains occasionally.
But doing nothing about a situation you're unhappy with doesn't get anything done, it doesn't make anyone feel better, and it's ultimately going to get worse.
So, do something.
Go...do something to make whatever your issue is just a little less of an issue.
